| Tourism enforcement wing fines 139 defaulters | | | Srinagar, July 4 The Enforcement Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has intensified drive against the defaulters and violators of Jammu and Kashmir Registration of Tourist Trade Act in the State. During the month of June 2007, the Enforcement Wing has fined Rs. 19950 against 139 defaulters at Srinagar, Sonamarg, Pahalgam and Gulmarg tourist places. Besides, this Rs. 12900 have been retrieved and refunded to the tourists. During its special drive at health resorts, the Wing has seized and destroyed a large quantity of duplicate saffron and initiated action against the cheaters. For the convenience of the Yatries and smooth conduct of Holy Amarnath Ji Yatra, the Department of Tourism and Tourist Police has jointly published and distributed pamphlets containing information regarding routes, to avoid traffic jams, parking places, telephone nos., rates of ponies, dandies and do’s and don’ts for yatries. The pamphlets have been kept available and are being distributed among tourists and yatries at Jawahar Tunnel, Srinagar Airport and all base camps of yatries. The pamphlets have also been distributed among travel agencies, transporters, hoteliers and houseboat owners for information and convenience of the tourists and yatries.
