| Jai Ram announces 10 lakh for JKEDI | | | Srinagar, July 4 Union Minister of State for Commerce Jai Ram Ramesh has announced office of Agriculture and Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) at Srinagar, adding that the office will function shortly. He was interacting with the participants of a workshop organized by Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) here today. Appreciating the efforts and initiative taken by the Institute, the Minister announced Rs. 10 lakh to JKEDI for the development of entrepreneurship in floriculture. He said that a 5-day training course on designing and marketing of gems and jewellery will be jointly organized by JKEDI and the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Ministry of Commerce ,in the month of August, 2007 for which the faculty will be arranged from Delhi. Mr. Ramesh said that international trade centre coming up with private partnership at Pampore will give boost to entrepreneurship development in the state. The Minister exhorted the entrepreneurs to explore the possibility of exploiting the local resource base while focusing on value addition. Commissioner/Secretary Industries and Commerce Mr. L. D. Jha, Managing Director SIDCO Mr. Irfan Yaseen Managing Director JKI Mr. Raman Soni, Regional Director (North) the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Minister of Commerce Mr. Vinod Koul besides other officer also attended the function.
