Villagers help militants to flee
Residents pelt stone on security personnel

In a rare incident of its kind, villagers in Gandoh area attacked on police party to help the militants run away, who were hiding in a house in the vicinity. According to reports, last night police received specific information of some militant hiding in village Malik Pura under police station Gandoh. After receiving the information, a police team swung into action and cordoned off the area. Sources said when police began cordoning, the local residents started pelting stone on the police party taking help of which the hiding militants managed to flee taking benefit of darkness.
The senior officers of police rushed to the spot along with additional force and launched search operation in the area to nab the militants. Sources said the hiding militants belong to HM outfit and were local militants. They were active in the area for last many years. Police has also registered a case in this regard under section 353,332,212 RPC and is investigating the matter.
Pertinent here to mention that this is not first time when residents of militancy effected area have had helped the militants who were active in the area. In some cases, the local people had also provided food, shelter and money to the local militants.
Sources said the owner of the house is a government teacher in which militants were hidden. The name of the person providing the shelter could not be ascertained.
Sources further informed that when the owner of the house started raising the slogans against the security forces and noise the militants got a chance to escaped from the spot giving no chance to security forces to nab the militants.
Sources further disclosed that the owner of the house also invited the neighbours and other villagers to his house following which the mob started pelting the stones on the police and security forces.
It is believed by the sources that the hiding militants in the house were the among the top cadres of the HM outfit and were hiding in the house from the last few days. Malik Pura locality in Gandoh tehsil is about 60 km away from the main Doda town.
Sources also believe that the incident has proved that some people are openly supporting the terrorists.
