JAMMU, JUL 4 About 33.36 lakh pilgrims have visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi since January this year, a fall of 36,000 from the corresponding period last year. In June this year, 9.35 lakh persons paid their obeisance while 9.38 lakh had offered prayers in June last, once again witnessing a decline in the number of devotees, official sources said. Presently 25,000 pilgrims are daily reaching the base camp at Katra for their onward journey to the holy cave which is located in Trikuta hills in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, which takes care of arrangements related to the pilgrimage, has been continously working to improve the facilities, including security arrangements from Katra town to the Bhawan, the sources added.
