Tributes paid to Martyr Udhay Singh

JAMMU, JULY 05 Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today paid floral tributes to Martyr Veer Udhay Maan Singh on his 8th death anniversary at his native village Shama Chak in Jhiri.
The students of various schools of Shama Chak presented patriotic songs on the occasion.
Ex-MLA and District Congress President Th.Balwan Singh, Director Sainik Welfare Department, Brig K S Kotwal, Col. B. K. Rattan Pal, 12 JAK RIF, Col. Rajeev Kumar 18 Garnadier, Col. Karan Singh of Zila Sainik Board, Col. Bhana Ram Sharma (Retd.), Mr. Suriender Pal Singh Sr. Regional Manager (HPCL), Superintending Engineer R&B Mr. Tahseen Mustafa, prominent citizen, sarpanches, locals and other senior engineers of R&B department were also pay floral tributes to Martyr Veer Udhay Maan Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Charak remembering the supreme sacrifice of the brave son of soil and said that Martyr Veer Udhay Maan Singh who laid down his life while defending nation’s integrity during operation Vijay in Kargil on July 05, 1999. He said that number of jawans of Army, BSF and CRPF hailing from rural as well as hilly areas of the state sacrificed their lives to save the country on national and international borders. Their heroic deeds would always bring proud to us besides an inspiration for others particularly youth to rise to the occasion and follow their footprints.
Earlier, the Minister also laid foundation stone of 23.60 meter long RCC Box culvert on Shama-Jhiri road in memory of Martyr Veer Udhay Maan Singh and said that the name of the culvert would be Shaheed Veer Udhay Maan Singh after his name. The culvert and link road from Shama Chak to Jhiri temple would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 25 lakh by R&B department.
A 2-minute silence was also observed and prayed to the enternal peace of departed soul.
The Minister also distributed shirts, pants and sweets among the poor persons of the Shama Chak.
Later, the Minister also visited the damaged site of Indira Chowk nallah and directed the UEED authorities to repair it immediately so that the general masses do not face any inconvenience during rainy season.
