‘Disappearance of Ice Lingam’ a deep rooted conspiracy, alleges PK
7/6/2007 12:20:39 AM

Jammu| July 5, 2007
Taking serious note of the fiasco on disappearance of self formed’ Ice Lingam” of Lord Shiva at the holy care shrine of Amarnath before the beginning of this year’s Yatra, the Panun Kashmir said that ‘it appears that the fiasco is deliberately orchestrated by a segment of administration and the ruling coalition to foil the entire yatra and demanded an inquiry to unravel the truth.
Addressing media persons here today the Chairman Pannun Kashmir Dr Ajay Chungroo said the din created on the melting of the holy Shivlingam at the Amarnath cave shrine in Himalayas has exposed the gross dereliction on the part of administration in the proper conduct of the Yatra.
‘There seems to be a nexus between a segment of state administration, transporters, hoteliers and local vendors to mint money of the yatris’, he alleged and maintained that there is a deeper politically motivated conspiracy to sabotage the entire Amarnath pilgrimage that attracts Hindu devotees from all across the world.
Saying that it is a well known that in the recent past the local fundamentalist groups have been opposing the Yatra debunking it as a cultural instruction, Dr Chungroo maintained that PDP’s opposition to the holy Yatra is also well known.
The PK leader said that it is intriguing that where as the state government vigorously campaigns with the country and outside to promote tourism, a section of the ruling coalition is bitterly opposed to encouraging Hindu pilgrim tourism particularly to the holy Amarnath cave.
Alleging discrimination against the Hindu shrines, by the government, Charangoo said that ‘disinformation campaign is afoot to hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community and maintained that’ it is not for the first time that Shivlingam has disappeared for the first time’. Not only the ‘Lingam’ but the holy cave and all other religious places right from Mattan have a great sanctity for the devotees, Dr Changroo said adding that the darshanas of the immortal pigeons in the case is an equally sacred experience.
‘Why the government is hesitating in starting of the gondola service for the holy shrine on the pattern of the Gulmarg, he said and added that whereas the government is providing all types of subsides to the devotees opting for pilgrimage of Saudi Arbia , but the government is putting every time new restrictions on the Amarnath yatris, laments Chungroo.
