| Re-investigation sought in alleged drowning case | | | Jammu | July 5 Mohan Lal Sharma, father of Pankaj Sharma, one of the victims, whose body was found from River Tawi, has demanded re-investigation of case by CBI or Crime Branch, registered by Panjtirthi Police under section 174 RPC on April 24 last. According to a letter written to Chief Minister, Mohan Lal maintained that his son Pankaj Sharma along with his two other friends namely Mohammed Yusuf and Varun Kakapuri had not died due to drowning on April 24 near Sidhra Bridge in Tawi where they had gone along with some other friends, who survived. The father of the deceased in his letter has alleged some foul play in the death of his son and two of his friends and pleaded for reopening the case and investigated it through CBI or the Crime Branch. He alleged that the police right from the start took it as a death case by drowning while the postmortem report does not subscribe to this theory and denies that the decreased had consumed much water He said the police did not investigate into the reasons as to how the blood was coming out from the nostrils of the dead persons and the role of those who have survived. Alleging that without reaching to any conclusion, the police have closed the case leaving the parents of the deceased yet to find out the reasons behind the death. He did not rule out the foul play by Chanderpal Singh, Abhimanayu Bhat, Asishish Bhat and Varan Sharma and demanded that the case be reopened and investigated afresh by the CBI or the Crime Branch.
