| SP demands probe in funds utilized by Irrigation | | |
Jammu July 6 Alleging misappropriations in allocated funds for Department of Irrigation & Flood Control, Samajwadi Party state unit as demanded an impartial inquiry in the allocation of funds and the utilization of the said funds for the last three years. In a joint statement, the state Samajwadi Party leaders namely Ram Prakash Sharma, D K Singh, Sham Lal Mahasha and Krishan Lal Sharma expressing acute shortage of irrigation facilities has resulted in the loss of the crops/agriculture sector. “Agriculturist continue to face hardships for the want of water for irrigation while the canals and water chanelets are in depleted conditions, the signatories stated. Adding to the SP leaders further stated that crores of funds have been exhausted on the so called repair works on the three main canals namely historic Ranbir Canal, Partap Canal and Kathua Canal but the things have not improved till date for the agriculturists in the regions fed by these canals or their chanalets. Alleging misappropriations in the concerned department the SP leaders demanded early impartial inquiry in the matter so as to book guilty to the books.
