| Dalai Lama’s birthday celebrated | | | Leh | July 6 The birthday of Dalai Lamai, was celebrated at village Jivetsal with great enthusiasm. People in large number attended the function at Photang, Choglamar. Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Chering Dorje was the Chief Guest on the occasion. On the occasion Jivetsal wore a festive look, men, women and children were seen in their traditional colourful dresses and were chanting Buddhist mantara for the long life of Dalai Lama. Addressing at the function Dorje highlighted the importance of the day. He said that on the occasion of 72nd birth anniversary of Dalai Lama, one should pray for the long life health of this holiness. He said that Dalai Lama is visiting Ladakh for 20 days. He is also visiting diskit Nubra. Doreje said that the holy relics of Lord Buddha is also being brought to Leh for the holy darshan and would be kept for public for 10 to 15 days at Jivetsal. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by artists of Tibetan settlement and local artists on the occasion. Among others present on the occasion were Dy. Commissioner, Dr. M.K.
