| Baig approves honorarium hike for Corporators, Councillors | | |
Srinagar, Aug 10,2006– On the back drop of Chief Minister Mr.Ghulam Nabi Azad’s meeting with Corporators and Councilors in which demand for increase in honorarium was made, the Government in a significant decision decided to enhance the honorarium of heads and members of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees. Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig approved a proposal to this effect in consultations with the Department of Housing and Urban Development Department here on Thursday.
The Mayors of Srinagar and Jammu Municipal Corporations would get a monthly honorarium of Rs.15, 000 while as the Deputy Mayors would get a monthly honorarium of Rs.7500. The Corporators of the two Municipal Corporations would be getting a monthly honorarium of Rs.5000 each.
In case of Municipal Councils, the honorarium has been hiked to Rs. 5500 for Presidents 3500 for Vice Presidents and Rs.2500 for Councilors. The monthly honorarium for the Presidents of Municipal Committee has been hiked to Rs.4500, Rs. 3000 for Vice Presidents and Rs.2000 for the members of the committees.
The sitting fee for members of these committees has also been increased. It would now be Rs.400 per sitting for Corporators, Rs.300 per sitting for Councilors and Rs.150 per sitting for the members of Municipal Councils. This is, however, subject to a maximum of five sittings in a month. |
