There’s an old saying ‘The child who cries the loudest gets the milk first’ while Congress leadership in the state has completely failed to feel the profundity and intensity of these words; the PDP think tank felt the Midas Touch of these words and cried hoarse throat to the self rule and demilitarization and successfully has changed psychic of rural masses.
Observers in state feel that PDP has gained a lot and now is in a ‘win- win situation’ by putting stakes through the sloganeering of ‘far extremes’ like self-rule, demilitarization and zero tolerance.
‘What Mufti failed to achieve while being a part of Congress, he has won by being a rebel, said one of the political observers. While PDP sees a silver lining in these protest and may use such incidents as trump card to stress for its sloganeering “troops cut’, the minority community residing in hill tops will be left in fear of insecurity as they shiver to think about their life without security pickets, another said.
Political analysts also had observed that feeling the pulse of the K-politics, Mufti revolted against Congress and brainchild a platform that he could not earlier support. The policies as chalked out by separatists like healing touch was then a slogan of APHC in Srinagar but Mufti hijacked it giving it political shape through the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of state.
And thus, PDP since inception has been harmonizing tunes with those harped as the hardliner psychic and what the separatist were claiming on the Kashmir issue but by being a part in the state government, a political observer said and added, “Mufti would never been a chief minister if he were in Congress if he has not opened a new political front in valley.”
Following the ‘Politics of Extremism’ like new surrender policy, healing touch, amnesty to relatives of killed militants and even the safe passage to the ultras sitting in Pakistan / PoK, the PDP had hit the alliance many times but the successive union governments exhibited leniency on every issue, they added. Congress JKNPP, PDF (independents) felt that their joys were short lived and temporary and were taken aback by the stakes of PDP to hold the chief minister’s chair first. It is pity Congress at both levels in state and its high command in New Delhi who failed to understand why did Mufti who held the Congress flag alone in the valley left the party and as ill luck would had the Congress it again was forced to share room with PDP aftermath Poll 2002, they added.
And the recent protests against the troops, the paramilitary forces and the local police have made the people to read between the lines said time and again by the PDP leadership at the various public meetings which are evidence to the saying who cries the loudest gets milk first. And it has succeeded to get the desired outcome by supporting cause of the gun wielded men but at the same time it should see the future in the crystal ball that even Mushraff too has faced the radicals / hard liners who present in all societies and never wanted to be suppressed.
Parties like PDP needs to understand bandhs and protests from people would only add to suffering of locals. If they want to work for the cause of victims they should highlight their case for due compensation from the concerned authorities.
