| Ousted C-IV excise employees’ protest continues | | | Jammu July 6 Ousted Excise Employees (C-IV) continued their protest on the 157th day in support of their demand of their absorption against their posts from which they have been retrenched by the coalition government. The Protestors staged a protest demonstration outside the office of the Excise and Taxation Panama Chowk while a similar protest was staged at Old Secretariat Srinagar. Addressing the protestors Adil Rashid Khan the president of the association reminded the state government about the assurances from chief minister and finance minister given in the assembly on 8/02/07 for regularizing the ousted Class IV employees. He also mentioned that they have been politically victimized as after their regular services for over eight years against their posts they have been retrenched from their post. ‘While others who have been appointed on the basis of the same appointment order are working in their parent posting but as ill luck they had only the Class –IV of Excise and Taxation Department have faced the brunt, he lamented. Khan also mentioned that because of the lack of employment has even put them in fix to pay the school fees of their wards. The speakers gave a deadline to the state government to concede to their demands by 15/07/07 otherwise they will be forced to intensify their stir to get their just rights. Besides Adil Rashid Khan other speakers demanded early regularization of ousted Class IV employees and appealed the chief minister to adopt a rational policy to absorb all those who had rendered over eight years of regular services as permanent employees in the said department.
