| Inhospitable hospital; Pain killers goes out of stock in prestigious SKIMS | | | Srinagar, July 7 If you are suffering from pain, your visit to prestigious SKIMS Hospital would get you no relief, because the state's leading health institution is out of stock for even common but extremely vital pain killer injections of Diclofenac and Potassium Chloride dextrose In absence of these medicines in the hospital stores, the relatives of the patients brought in the hospitals during late hours have no option, but to watch their dear ones grit in pain till the opening of medicine shops in the morning. While Diclofenac anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Potassium Chloride dextrose is essential for patients suffering from deficiency of water. Sources in the Hospital revealed that the patients are being out great hardships, particularly during late night in the absence of these common but vital injections. They said despite the fact that the institution is short of these injections for the last two months, the authorities have not yet made any move to secure these injections. As per norms and requirement, 250 to 300 samples of each make are to be kept available for patients daily but the hospital management has been acting quite lackadaisically despite repeated requests by the staff and patients. "My son was about to suffer a break down due to the pain, but a distant Medicine shop owner come to my rescue at 2 am on the intervening night of 5 and 6 July" says Ab Rashid Kumar father of Gulzar Ahmed Kumar resident of Sopore admitted in emergency ward. Everyday hundreds of patients undergo similar ordeals as their attendants had to run from pillar to post to arrange these injections, sources said.
