| Azad reviews PM’s arrangements, leaves for Delhi | | |
ET REPORTER Jammu, July 8: Ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit on Tuesday, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad arrived here this morning to review the arrangements. Immediately after his arrival here, Azad had a round of the secretariat building though it could not be learnt that what was the purpose of visit on a holiday that too when the winter secretariat is on vacation. He had a brief meeting with the officers to discuss preparedness for receiving the Prime Minister. Later in the afternoon Chief Minister left for New Delhi to join the mourning of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar. Azad, who was in Jammu and scheduled to return to Srinagar in the afternoon, changed his programme and flew to Delhi where he visited the bereaved family and paid his condolences. Meanwhile, later in the evening senior Congress leader and Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma chaired a meeting of top party functionaries including ministers to review the party level arrangements for the visit of the Prime Minister. The meeting decided on reception committee among other arrangements for the PM’s visit which is not likely to have any thing with the Congress party affairs.
