| Mangat inspects ongoing hospital works | | |

dream of Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad in making Jammu and Kashmir a Khushhal state is being realized on ground especially while the execution of various developmental programmes, stated Minister for Health & Medical Education Mr Mangat Ram Sharma.
The Minister was on an inspection visit to Government Medical College Jammu, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Government Hospital Sarwal, SMGS Hospital and Government Hospital Gandhinagar here today.
At GMC Jammu, the Minister inspected the ongoing foundation work of the emergency block. He was informed that 8 additional wards are being constructed to expand the emergency block at the cost of Rs.6.04 crore. The block will have 4 operation theatres and one ICU alongwith allied facilities and stretcher facility which would also be available in the lift work on the project started in June 2007 and it would complete in 2008.
At newly constructed Dental College, Mr Sharma was informed that construction of an academic block, girls and boys hostel is going on at a cost of Rs.14.66 crore under double shift system basis. The academic block comprising of administration block along with academic classrooms etc would come up by August 2008 whereas the girls and boys hostel will have a combined capacity of 63 students.
At Government Hospital Sarwal, the Minister inspected the additional block being constructed at a cost of Rs.5.58 crore having a parking facility at basement OPD, wards for conducting medium surgeries, skin and eye treatment etc and on second floor residential quarters for doctors. Entire construction programme will be completed by 2008.
On his visit to SMGS Hospital, the Minister was apprised that work on construction of 200 bedded children hospital is in full sewing under double shift system and till now Rs.4.35 crore have been expended. This Rs.16.24 crore project envisages an ICU facility, 2 lifts, ramp connecting the new hospital with the old building, a modern sewerage plant for treatment of garbage coming from the hospital alongwith a seminar hall. Work on the project is expected to complete in December 2008.
Mr Sharma also visited the Gandhinagar Government Hospital where Rs.9.42 crore project is being implemented for construction of an OPD unit. The unit will have the facility of two lifts and would come up by June 2008 as magnificent four story building.
Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing construction works the Minister said that due to strenuous efforts of the engineers visible progress is being registered. He said that to upgrade the health infrastructure in the state work is being carried out under double shifts especially at Dental College, SMGS and Gandhi Nagar Hospital so as to provide best medicare to the general masses.
Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad also visited these sites few months back and expressed satisfaction over the manner in which works have been taken in hand expeditiously especially on two shift basis for which he pledged.
He also praised the professional competence of Principal Medical College Dr Rajinder Singh and Superintendent SMGS Hospital Dr Yash Pal Sharma as well as role of JKPCC engineers especially MD JKPCC Mr Daleep Thusoo and DGM Mr Subhash Gupta and Mr K K Sharma who are executing and supervising the ongoing hospital works.
