| Mubarak Mandi restoration committee meet | | Charak reviews progress in documentation, consultancy works | |
JAMMU, JULY 08 Minister for Road and Building Mr Gulchain Singh Charak chaired a 3rd meeting of Mubarak Mandi restoration executive committee to discuss strategies for restoration of pristine glory of historic Mubarak Mandi Complex here today. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Mr Sudhanshu Pandey, District Development Commissioner Jammu, Mr Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu Mr. M.M Sharma, Chief Engineer Power Development Department Mr D.S Pawar, Municipal Commissioner Jammu Mr Vinod Sharma, Director Tourism Mr Ajay Khajuria, IGP Mr S.P Vaid, SSP Traffic Mr S.S Watali, General Manager JKTDC Mr S. Sawhney, Director Fire Services, S.E PWD Mr Tasleem Mustafa and member of executive committee, Major General (Retd) Mr G.S Jamwal, Ex DG Information Mr S.C Sawhney, Dr Anita Baloria, Chief Warden World Life, Architects, Xens of the various departments and many others prominent citizens and officers of the concerned department were present in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Mr Charak stressed the committee members and departments to ensure early commencement of work on the Mubarak Mandi complex especially finalization of nomination of the consultants for the documentation and consultancy work on the historic heritage complex within the shortest time period. The Minister informed about the detailed discussions he had with the Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, last evening for the repair, renovation and action taken report of the heritage complex. He said that all the historic heritage complexes of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh would be renovated for tourist attraction. Mr Charak reviewed the action taken report of the decisions taken in the previous two meetings. He told that additional Director General Archeological Survey of India has been requested to depute a team of experts for on-spot assessment and interaction with the members of the executive committee. The Minister fixed the date with the head of departments and members of executive committee on 3rd of August, 2007 for their expert opinion views on this historical heritage. He asked IGP Jammu Zone to look into the security aspects of the complex as recommended by the executive committee. The concerned IGP said that action will be taken as soon as appropriate security setup is provided in the complex by the enforcement agency and public opinion in this regard is awaited with the concerned MLAs. He also directed the SE PWD to install barriers on every point of entry within two days. Mr Charak instructed the SSP traffic to control the outside traffic and gave instructions to inmates of the adjoining areas to properly park their vehicles in the complex premises. He also asked the Chief Engineer PDD to remove the extra wires from the complex before the proper arrangement of underground wiring is taken in hand. The Minister exhorted upon the PWD and Municipal Corporation authorities to depute contingent of safai-karamcharis to assist the R&B authorities in this behalf. He also asked the archieves wing to make selection of rooms with the concerned expert committee for shifting of Archives/Museum/Toshakhana. Earlier, the Minister visited Green Avenue Digiana to assess the damage caused due to recent rainy and inspect other developmental works of the area. Addressing the gathering he announced that the department will carry out construction of 350 meter drains and metalling and blacktopping of 205 mts road at Digiana. He instructed the concerned engineer to start the said work within 15 days for the benefit of locals. Among others, Ex-Mayor JMC Ch. Manmohan Singh and Corporator of the area S. Paramjeet Singh and prominent citizens were present on the occasion
