| BMS blames govt for failure in protecting interests of workers | | | Jammu July 8, 2007
Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, president, Laxman Ravinder Singh today alleged that state government in connivance with the contractors was exploiting the poor labours and violating all the provisions of Contract Labour Act. Addressing a press conference, here today, he said that despite repeated requests government authorities have not provided the labours with employment cards and proper attendance cards while the government was forcing the workers for 12 hours regular duty He said that under the labour laws the labours are entitled to do duty for 8 hours in a day. He asserted that the labours are getting no over time allowance for the duty they perform beyond regular hours. Singh held government responsible for all exploitations of the poor labours. He demanded the appropriate action against the officials responsible for the worse conditions of the labours be taken.
