| Court rejects bail of police cop involved in fake currency racket | | | JAMMU, JULY 09- The 3rd Additional Munsiff, Archana Charak, has rejected the bail application of Showkat Ali, police cop involved in the fake currency racket. In the bail application the accused stated that applicant has been implicated due to enmity with superior police officer. Upon this the Court called the police report revealing that the accused has been arrested in FIR 105/07 P/S Nagrota for commission of offence u/s 489-B RPC (fake currency). While rejecting the bail application, the 3rd Additional Munsiff, after hearing both the sides, observed that it appears from the police report that on May 17 last, one Rahul lodged a report to PP Sidhra with allegations that one Rashpal Singh has paid him two currency notes of 500 each as labour charges which were later on found to be fake. On this report, a case was registered and during investigation active involvement of Showkat Ali and Shakeel Ahmed, who are brothers, was established and found that counterfeit currency notes were procured from Ghulam Ahmed and Mohd Islam both resident of District Nadia West-Bengal. There were other people involved in circulating the counterfeit currency notes as genuine in the market by using the same for business transactions. There are specific allegations against applicant/accused that he procured counterfeit currency valuing Rs 17 lakhs from West-Bengal and pumped the same in J&K. Court further said that allegations against the applicant and others mentioned in the police report are very serious in nature that too in light of the fact when our country is facing challenges on various fronts. Many attempts have been made in past to destabilize the economy of country ,especially in state of J&K which due to on going turmoil has already been the most effected areas. SPO Kulbushan Sharma stated that main accused has been arrested from West-Bengal and is under custodial interrogation and involvement of many is being ascertained.. With these observations Court dismissed the bail application of the accused involved in fake currency racket.
