| BJP expresses grief over Chandra Shekhar’s demise | | | Jammu July 9- At a condolence meeting held at party headquarters under State President Ashok Khajuria, State BJP leaders expressed deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar. Ashok Khajuria, while paying tributes to Chandra Shekhar, described him as a clean imaged and most respectable politician who was even admired by his rivals for his simplicity and straight forwardness. How much respect he had for democratic values in the country is clear from his total opposition to the imposition of Emergency in 1975 by the Congress despite the fact that he himself was a Congressman and was put behind bars for 18 months for his opposition, he said. He said that in the demise of Chandra Shekhar, the country has lost a true secular and a socialist leader who played a vital role during JP movement in the country.
