| VO presents challan against former Girdawar | | | Jammu July 9 - State Vigilance Organization today produced challan in the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu against Swami Raj former Girdawar Tehsil Bhaderwah and beneficiary Sansar Chand S/o Bhaga Megh R/o Misrata Tehsil Bhaderwah for alleged misappropriation of Rs.1,25,869 fraudulently drawn on account of compensation of house of the beneficiary. Case FIR No.8/2002 P/S VOJ U/S 5(2) P.C Act was registered following a preliminary enquiry which revealed that the beneficiary Sansar Chand had received the compensation against the acquisition of his non existing house. In the year 1994 Army authorities acquired 280 kanals and 14 marlas land in Village Misrata Tehsil Bhaderwah for the establishment of an Army Cantonment at Chinta, Bhaderwah. An amount of Rs.84 lakh was paid as compensation of land and house structures. Swami Raj the then Girdwara posted in Chinta Circle was deputed by the Collector Land Acquisition (SDM) Bhaderwah along with assessment team for identification of the house structures existing on the land being acquired for the Army cantonment. The engineers of PWD (R&B) conducted the assessment of the house structures on the Nishandehi of Girdawar Swami Raj. Investigation further revealed that an amount of Rs.1,25,869 was also received by accused Sansar Chand as compensation of a house, despite the fact that no such house structure existed on piece of land under khasra No.388/208 belonging to said Sansar Chand. Accused Swami Raj in connivance with Sansar Chand and by sheer abuse of his official position and wrong Nishandehi conferred undue monetary benefit on the said Sansar Chand. The compensation amount of Rs.1,25,869.80 was later on recovered by the SDM, Bhaderwah from the accused Sansar Chand in a contempt proceeding. Sansar Chand obtained the house compensation amount dishonestly and with criminal intent as he knew very well that no such house existed on ground which was acquired for the establishment of Army Cantonment at Chinta, Bhaderwah. Further, he retained the Government money for more than four months which itself was an act of misappropriation. The next date of hearing has been fixed on September 14,.2007.
