Taking cognizance of the press statement issued by the Shri Amarnath shrine board official in which he had targeted Mahant Deepndra Giri while alleging that some vested interests are spreading rumours about melting of Shiv Lingam National President of the Shri Amarnath Yatra Welfare Organisation (AYWO)Rajinder Sharma on Tuesday said that the remarks against the Mahantji are highly disgraceful and desreve strong condemnation.
In his letter to the chairman of the Shri Amarnath shrine board,Rajinder Sharma said that Mahantji has ben assigned the Gaddi which is worshipped by lakhs of devotees all over the world .Who so ever has made this statement about him should apologize publically.
In his letter he said that the yatra is many centuries old and it is only during last few years that many controversies have arisen about the existence and disappearance of ice lingam /melting down too early or before the official commencement of the yatra.
He informed Governor that it seems we have annoyed Baba Amarnathji and instead of putting efforts to appease the God we are indulging in mud-slinging. and finger pointing at individuals.
Referring to stay order passed by the Division bench of the J&K High Court regarding saving of ice lingam by some artificial means he said in this regard no one should discuss the issue or issue statement to t he media.
Helicopter services may prove to be a boon for older people but it does affect the lingam indirectly.Seeking cooperation of the chairman, Sharma said sufferings of the devotees should be minimized.
