| 3 ultras dead, arms seized | | | ET REPORTER Jammu, July 10: At least three top militants were killed and huge cache of arms seized by busting a hideout during a search operation during anti-insurgency operations since last night in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said, two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were killed in a nearly three hour long operation at Padderpora village of Shopian district this afternoon, Pulwama Senior Superintendent of Police Nitish Kumar said. The gunbattle erupted when police assisted by troops of Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation in the village following specific information about presence of militants. When security personnel asked two militants hiding in the house of one Mohammad Shafi Tokhar to surrender, they opened fire, he said adding in the ensuing encounter they were killed. The house suffered extensive damage during the gunfight, he said and identified one of the deceased as Ayaz Ahmad Chopan, wanted in a large number of militancy-related incidents. In another encounter, a police spokesman said, security forces shot dead anentified militant in Kralpora area of Kupwara district last night. An AK rifle, five magazines and 55 rounds of ammunition were recovered from him. Security forces busted two hideouts during search operations at Katari Mohalla in Lalpora and Drugmulla forest in Kupwara district today. Eight kg RDX, eight motor shells, a live rocket booster, an AK rifle, its two magazines with 25 rounds, a hand grenade and three Under Barrel Grenade Launcher grenades were seized from the hideouts. In another operation, security forces recovered five motor bombs, four UBGLs, one RPG bomb and three detonators from a forest hideout in Surankote area of Poonch district, he said.
