The Community Health Centre established some five decades back lacks all the basic facilities. Surprisingly if one falls ill he is supposed to take some logistics along with before visiting the hospital. The logistics required include candle for light, Syringe for injection, Driver for ambulance, Mosquitoes repellant for protection against malaria
Hand fan to protect from heat, besides two to three attendants to take care.
Not only this, the Hospital is facing acute shortage of para medical staff as also the specialized doctors.
The Hospital established some 50 years back is devoid of a generator set. The hospital which has cater to the medical requirements of the inhabitants of nearly 198 villages lacks all the basic facilities to take care of the heavy rush of the patients visiting hospital daily.
On an average more than 200 patients visit O.P.D daily, majority of these are referred to GMC Jammu due to lack of facilities. Two years back, MLA Suman Bhagat had assured that the CHC will be provided with a special electricity line but the hospital is still deprived of this facility causing great inconvenience to the patients and their attendants. While talking to Early Times Mohinder Lal, Darshno Devi and Sat Paul said that whenever they visit hospital for check-up they have to buy syringes and injections from out side the hospital. At night whenever ambulance is required the driver has to be called from home by the attendants themselves which creates a lot of problems to the patients. Two months back, Block Medical Officer R.S.Pura announced the construction of a diagnostic complex which includes blood bank and other basic requirements but even the foundation stone is still to be laid.
R.S.Pura being a rural area and in the rainy season many cases of snake bite report to the hospital but regrettably there is no proper treatment for snake bites forcing the victims to take recourse to GMC Hospital . But till they reach to the hospital some of them die en route due to delay in treatment. From the last 8-9 months, the hospital is not having E.N.T. Gynecologist, Lady and child specialist. Moreover the eye specialist visits twice a week causing a huge rush there.
R.S.Pura tehsil though upgraded as sub-district but the hospital is still deprived of many necessary facilities. The residents say that if the government is serious to avoid undue rush in the GMC hospital, it must provide all the basic facilities including the latest diagnostic equipments along with the doctors to the rural hospitals.
