| Job Hunt: New generation goes for professional courses, instead of conventional streams | | | Munish Gupta Jammu | July 11 With the growing unemployment a sudden change in mindset of the new generation is noticed as leaving the conventional educational streams in the colleges. The new trends has even witnessed students and parents rushing to the franchises of various technical universities in Jammu city for better career options. Some educationists even said that a steady decline has been observed in the conventional educational courses in the colleges which were popular earlier. And with the problem unemployment among the educated youths, a shift has been recently been titled towards job-oriented, professional and specialized courses. The young generation is being lured by the lucrative offers offered by the Private and public sector to the human resources and experts in the new IT and Management Courses thus the two main sectors and their allied streams are mesmerizing the freshers in comparison to traditional courses, some educationists said. ‘Professional courses like MBA, MCA, Law, Architecture and Physiotherapy are getting an overwhelming response these days while other professional courses like Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Hotel Management, Web Designing, Graphics and Multimedia too have many takers, said an IT expert engaged in MNC. Indeed it is crude fact that there is lack of career guidance in the city, so not many people know what to do and what to buy for their wards to get the best career leaving a number of students and their parents in dilemma after the declaration of the result of +2 standard. “I was preparing for the medical entrance and failed to get perhaps that time I may have felt bad but I sought my career in Computer Technology. While my friends who are simple graduates still looking for careers I feel privileged and lucky enough to find a good placement in Information Technology sector with a handsome salary, says Neha, a faculty member at city computer Franchise. “In the today’s highly commercial environment, the demand for professional courses has gone very high, as every employer and every customer looks for skills which will fulfill perquisite in the job market,” said Gourav Mahajan MD Softlab Computer Institute. “Not only the computrics other allied courses like Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Hotel Management, Air hostess and Aviation sector too have attracted the new generation to look for lucrative career and job security. The institutes offering respective courses have come up with eye catching posters and assurances of placements that is perhaps playing significant to change the winds, said Rahul.
