| Vigilance produces challan against R&B JE for possessing disproportionate assets | | | SRINAGAR: SVO has produced challan in the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Kashmir against a Junior Engineer of R&B division Anantnag for acquiring property disproportionate to his legitimate sources of income through corrupt practices worth over Rs 6.86 lacs. Case FIR No 34/98 P/S VOK u/s 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) P.C. Act was registered on 10.06.1999 following a verification by the SVO which prima facie established that Sh Ghulam Mohammad Junior Engineer PWD (R&B) Anantnag, by misuse of his official position and by indulging in corrupt practices has acquired property which includes a double storied residential house at Krumgoo Anantnag on a piece of land measuring 1.12 Kanals besides having bank balance and a Maruti car between the period 1979 to 1993. In the course of investigation it was established that the accused Junior Engineer had acquired movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 9.13 lacs, during the check period from October 1979 and December 1993, besides an expenditure of Rs 1.58 lacs on household and personnel matters. The income from all legal sources was calculated to be Rs 3.85 lacs only. Thus it was established that he has acquired disproportionate assets worth Rs 6.86 lacs through corrupct practices during the check period. Afetr completion of the investigation and accord of sanction of prosecution by the Govt the challan of the case was produced in the Court of law where the accused was also present.
