| Lathi-charge on anganwari workers condemned | | |
Jammu, July 11, 2007 The lathicharge on anganwari workers and helpers by the state police at Srinagar yesterday has been condemned by various employees’ associations and trade unions. Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association in a statement has highly condemned the lathicharge on the anganwari workers, who were agitating for their rightful status in the society and honorable remuneration for their livelihood. Association impress upon the govt to settle their demands amicably. Association members , Ali Mohd Tanray, Pawan Gupta, Ramesh chand, H.O. Koul, J.A. Bhukari and Rajesh gupta supported the Anganwari workers. The centre of Indian trade Union J&K unit has taken serious note over the police brutality on anganwadi workers at Srinagar. The state govt. instead of mitigating the suffering of these workers has shamelessly used police force to suppress these workers which is highly condemned the release said. CITU has urges upon the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter personally and settle the demand of the agitating anganwadi workers failing which the CITU affiliated federation on all India level shall give a called to stand behind these workers which will create uncontrollable situation for the J&K govt. Ashok chaudhary of Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association in a statement has strongly condemned the brutal lathi-charge on workers.
