| GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes Art exhibition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | AUGUST 10 An art exhibition was organized today at Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Prof. Veena Gupta. In the exhibition, various works of art including Floating Candles, Glass Paintings, Sand Paintings, and Mayur Paintings were put on the display. Prior to this exhibition, a weeklong training camp was organized for the students of Home Science Department, under the watchful eyes of a specialized trainer Shilpi Jain from Pidilite Industries. She imparted training among the students about the decoration of articles with 3D outliners and fabric glue, glass painting, candle making, mayur painting, sand painting etc. About 36 students had participated in the training camp. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Veena congratulated all those who participated in the exhibition and made it a successful event. She appreciated the role of Pidilite Industries for imparting free of cost artistic skills to the students. She also appealed to the representatives of Pidilite Industries to recruit some of these students in their organization after completion of their studies. They also responded to her appeal in a positive manner and assured to pick up few out of them after the completion of their studies. Meanwhile, talking to “Early Times” students also appreciated the role of both College Management and Pidilite Industries for organizing such a training camp for them. They were full of praise for HoD Home Science, Prof. Sudha Gupta and Pidilite trainer, Shilpi Jain for providing an opportunity to learn such kind of arts.
