| HM militant killed, another surrenders | | |
Jammu, July 11
One Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed in a fierce gunbattle with the security forces, while another militant laid down his arm in Budhal area of district Rajouri, on Wednesday.
Giving details of the encounter, an official spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that acting on a tip off Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police and 16 Rashtriya Rifles launched a combat operation Budhal Draj area, this morning.
The operation followed a fierce gun battle between the troops and security forces, who zeroed in on a suspected militants' hideout, he added.
One militant of Hizbul Mujahideen Peer Panchal Range (HMPPR) identified as Anwar Hussain of Pakistan was killed in the encounter, while a local militant Tariq Hussain surrendered before the troops.
Some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site of the encounter.
