| Khajuria demands revoking of entry tax on pilgrims | | | Jammu July 12 State president Bhartiya Janta Party Ashok Khajuria today called on Sudhanshu Pandey Divisional Commissioner Jammu and appealed him to revoke the entry tax on pilgrims’ vehicles at Lakhanpur and at Lower Munda. In their maiden meeting Ashok Khajuria apprised the new incumbent with the problems of the people in Jammu city and asked for the immediate redressal. The demands highlighted during this meeting included erratic water and power supply in the city, non availability of the ration at government depots, dilly dallying attitude to approved Gandola Project between Mubarak Mandi and Bahu Fort, construction of proposed base camp in Jammu for Amarnath pilgrims, construction of lake over Tawi River so as to sustain tourism in Jammu city and to order legal proceedings against the politicians and bureaucrats who are indulged in mal practices and revoking of Entry Tax at Lakhanpur and Lower Munda on the vehicles carrying Amarnath pilgrims. He described the entry tax equivalent to Jazia imposed upon non Mulsims during the Mugal periods. State BJP president in particular drew the attention of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu that the recent collapsing of boundary walls of park at Nai Basti and the road at Indira Chowk which were constructed recently a month ago specifically marks the use of sub standard materials in the government developmental projects and demanded probe to punish guilty. Divisional Commissioner Sudhanshu Pandey listened to the problems and issues highlighted by the State BJP President Ashok Khajuria and assured the an effective action in regard to the problems highlighted by them.
