| Formulate plans in consonance with people’s needs, Jugal asks DRDAs | | | Srinagar July 12 Minister for Rural Development Mr. Jugal Kishore has impressed upon the officers and field functionaries of District Rural Development Agencies to formulate and execute development plans in consonance with the needs and demands of the people. He also asked them to utilize the funds under various centrally sponsored schemes within time frame and judiciously so that further releases do not get with held. Mr. Jugal Kishore was addressing the officers meeting of DRDAs here today. The meeting dwelt in detail on the issues relating to execution of works under DRDAs and SGSY, formulation of self-help groups for setting up small scale income generating units, creation of employment avenues under various centrally sponsored scheme run by these agencies. The meeting also discussed shortage of staff and deficiency of infrastructure that affects the working of DRDAs. Mr. Jugal Kishore asked the project officers of DRDAs to ensure close monitoring of the on-going works and see that the quality of work does not suffer for want of monitoring and supervision by the staff. He also said that necessary training was essential for better utilization of available human resource and yielding satisfactory results of welfare schemes. Secretary Rural Development Mr. M. S, Khan has said that a committee would be constituted for training norms so that implementation of the schemes should be transparent and accountable. He said that concerned officers and officials would be imparted training for implementation of the schemes in the state under DRDA and SGSY.
