| Northern Command organizing nursing education prog | | | Udhampur, Jul 11 Command Hospital, Northern Command is organizing a Continuing Nursing Education Programme on "Newer Approaches in Psychiatric Emergencies", from July 23 to Aug 1, 2007. Rapid globalization and progress coupled with the break down of social structures have exerted a tremendous stress on the individual psyche. As per WHO, the burden of psychiatric illnesses across the globe is on the increase. Commitments of the Army in general have gone up dramatically in recent times. Considering the role of the Armed forces in the face of insurgency, natural calamities, civil unrest and UN peacekeeping, there is a need to understand the stress and strain adversely affecting the service personnel and their families. About thirty Nursing Officers from the Command zone are attending this programme for a period of ten days. The approach is multi-disciplinary with a training team comprising of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric trained nurses, legal and administrative experts from this command and outside who will be speaking and sharing their views on their areas of expertise relating to emergencies in psychiatry and their management. The meticulous manner with which the organizers have gone ahead with the ten-day programme goes to show the professional commitment of Command Hospital (Northern Command) in treating stress.
