Residents protest erratic power supply
7/13/2007 12:12:32 PM

Jammu | July 12
Continuing their protests against the erratic power supply, the residents of Baranai area staged a demonstration raising slogans against the Power Development Department here today.
Residents of Anuradha Puram, Barnai alleged that erratic power supply in the area was because of burning of an old transformer of 250KV, which was installed in their area 15 years back. The residents also alleged that as the transformer is very old and has a capacity of power supplying for around 200 families, it does not cater fully to the requirement of the locality. Even as now after 18 years the population has increased manifold, the power department is careless and is not serious about the problems being faced by the people alleged Om Khajuria, who led by the protestors in front of Divisional Commissioner’s office.
Khajuria added that due to the non-cooperative behaviour of AEE and CE, they were forced to come on roads to protest against the power department.
