| Rs 8000 cr for upgrading civic amenities in Jammu, Srinagar cities: CM | | | Srinagar, July 12 – Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that mega projects were being formulated for upgrading civic amenities in capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu involving over Rs. 8000 crore. Chief Minister said that under these ambitious projects drinking water supply, solid waste management, sewerage and drainage alongwith roads and other basic amenities would be modernized in the next four years. Azad was interacting with a deputation from Habba Kadal and other areas of Srinagar city which met him here today. Senior Vice President JKPCC and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil was present on the occasion. Chief Minister said that 37 other cities and towns in the State were also being developed for which Rs. 900 crores were available. Referring to the development of Srinagar City, Azad said that a number of schemes had already been taken in hand while several others were in the pipeline. In this connection, he referred to the construction of modern Hajj House, beautification of River Jhelum banks, Eidgah and Hazratbal shrine complex, construction and upgradation of several roads, bridges and hospitals and Rangil water supply augmentation scheme. He said he had directed the concerned officials to complete the water supply scheme in one and a half years instead of three years. Vakil and other deputationists, speaking on the occasion, lauded the initiatives taken by Azad for eradication of corruption, ensuring healthy work culture and launching massive infrastructure development works across the State. They extended their whole-hearted support and cooperation to him in accomplishing his agenda of making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful, developed and prosperous state.
