| DDC holds public darbars at border villages, inspects RD works | | | SAMBA, JULY 12 -District Development Commissioner Samba Mr B S Jamwal today convened public darbars at border villages Tanda-Burj in Harminder Panchayat and Supwal to listen to the grievances and demands of the people. The people from both the villages thronged the venue in large number and apprised the DDC about their problems. At Tanda-Burj, the vegetable growers demanded compensation for their vegetables destroyed due to the polluted waste being emitted from certain pesticide factories. Mr Jamwal assured the growers that no pesticide factory will be allowed to be established in and around the densely populated areas in future which will ensure safety and security to their crops. He informed the farmers that anti-pollution equipments have been ensured in all the industrial factories to further save their production. He said that the matter of compensation for last year’s crop damage is under active consideration of the government and it is expected that within shortest possible time this vital issue will be sorted out and they will get their due. The people of Tanda-Burj demanded augmentation in the existing transformers in their respect areas besides they demanded extension of local deep drain to Basantar. At Supwal, the people informed the DDC that about 2 km road before Supwal constructed by PWD has been badly damaged causing much inconvenience to the people of the village in particular and adjoining areas in general. The DDC assured the people that the matter will be taken up at an appropriate level to ensure speedy repair and renovation of the said road. Earlier, Mr Jamwal inspected the rural development works being executed in Tanda-Burj and Supwal. He expressed extreme satisfaction over the performance of the Rural Development Department Samba. BDO, Samba, Mohammad Yusaf Malik informed the DDC that Rs.12 lakh have been expended on construction and repair of lanes and drains, Rs.6 lakh on construction of roads, Rs.6 lakh on construction of community hall, Rs.2.95 lakh on construction of school compound wall and Rs.2.5 lakh on construction of cremation shed under BADP during the last financial year in Tanda-Burj. He further apprised the DDC that Rs.6 lakh have been spent on construction of community hall, Rs.4 lakh on construction of lanes and drains and Rs.2.5 lakh on construction of PHC at Supwal during the last financial year. Mr Jamwal also inspected Soil Conservation Office and Anganwari Centre Supwal. Later, the DDC distributed 22 solar lanterns among the people of Pangdour, Raipur and Harminder under BADP. The lantern having original cost of Rs.4300 have been provided to the beneficiaries mere for Rs.500 per lantern.
