| Kiran Bedi ‘protests’ against Gopal Sharma | | | Jammu, July 12 As exercise gets underway to clear decks for appointment of Jammu and Kashmir DGP as next Commissioner of Delhi Police, Gopal Sharma’s colleague of 1972 batch IPS is exasperated over the move and is reportedly planning to petition before the President of India against any such decision. The post of the Commissioner of Delhi Police is considered to be most coveted top post in the country for the officers of the rank of DGs. Kiran Bedi, reports said, has been eyeing on this post since long and for this reason she even sought modification of orders earlier when at a couple of occasions she was appointed chief of Police outside Delhi. The post of the Commissioner of Delhi Police is falling vacant soon as the incumbent KK Paul is moving to the Union Public Service Commission as member. DGP Gopal Sharma and Kiran Bedi both are of 1972 batch of IPS. Both Bedi and Sharma equally qualify to meet take the most coveted job in the country. Magsaysay award winner Bedi has had a controversial past and has not done field work for almost two decades and has been busy in running her NGO or writing books praising her own achievements, a senior officer of Delhi police was today quoted as saying news agency. Meanwhile, Sharma has not so far been officially conveyed anything about this development. Sharma told a news agency today that all he has heard about it if from media and there has not been any official communication to this effect.
