| Two LeT militants eliminated in Poonch district | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | AUGUST 10 Two LeT militants were eliminated in a fierce gun battle at Beri Rakh Mendhar in Poonch district today; a hide out was busted in Basantgarh area while a cache was recovered from the maize fields at Tharal Mahor. A Defense spokesman said that in a joint operation launched by the 39 RR and SOG, two militants of LeT outfit were gunned down in the maize fields of Beri Rakh Mendhar. The gun- fight between the security forces and the slain militants lasted for about four years. The Security forces recovered two AK rifles from the site of encounter. The spokesman said that based on an information, the 30 Bn of BSF and STF launched a search operation in Basantgarh area and busted a natural cave type hideout. On search, the forces recovered two binoculars, one two- digit RCIED junction box and 10 kg assorted ration.. The reports said that based on its own information, the Army launched a search operation in Tharal area 2 Km Southwest of Mahor and recovered some cache. The recoveries included five explosive sticks, eight rounds of AK ammunition, three detonators, 1.5-meter safety fuse, 3-meter wire and some assorted medicines.
