| BJP chief studies damage by rains | | | BJP State President Ashok Khajuria today visited C-block area behind Ware House Complex to have an on the spot assessment of the losses caused to the wholesalers, karyana merchants and traders of spices, manufacturing units and houses of local residents due to the recent rains. The traders, manufacturers and local residents, while narrating their woes, told Ashok Khajuria that it is for the first time in last 40 years that waters of nallah has caused huge losses to them. The waters entered their godowns, manufacturing units, offices and residential premises causing losses to the tune of lakhs of rupees. They said it is the recently constructed nallah, still incomplete, which has caused havoc in the area. They blamed the concerned department of ignoring their repeated pleas and diverting the drains of Green Belt Park, Bikram Chowk, Hotel Asia areas into this nallah. Ashok Khajuria, who alongwith BJP leaders Parmodh Kapahi, Rajesh Gupta, Balbir Ram and Ram Dass Gupta visited the area and interacted with the sufferers, criticized the concerned department for working in an unplanned manner thus causing problems and losses to the people. He said that a thorough inquiry should be conducted as to why the construction works completed recently fail to withstand the even minor rains and dash to the ground. He stressed for booking all the guilty officials of concerned departments found to be indulging in corrupt practices and using sub-standard materials for various developmental works in Jammu region. A number of traders and businessmen of the area including Ashok Kumar Gupta, Madan Lal, Rohit Kumar, Raj Kumar, Harsh Kumar, Atul Khanna, Joginder Kumar, Naresh Pradhan and Bulaki Ram besides a number of local residents of the area narrated their plight and the losses caused to them
