NC pays homage to 1931 Martyrs’

Jammu 13 July: To observe Martyrs day, a function was held today at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan the National Conference headquarters where rich tributes were paid to the 1931 martyrs. .
Addressing the gathering, Rattan Lal Gupta, Sr. Vice President said Martyr’s of 1931 sacrificed their lives for the cause of the people. By launching a peaceful movement the Martyr’s in fact gave vent to their feelings and agonies of people. This has ultimately led to people’s struggle which gave them their due place of dignity and honour.
He said the events of 1931 were a turning point in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. “Martyr’s of 1931 sacrificed their lives for democracy and freedom of speech, which was not allowed by the autocratic rulers of that time. He said the best way to pay tributes to the Martyrs is to strengthen democracy and secularism
The gathering was also addressed by Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Vice President, Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, MLA, Surjit Singh Slathia, former Minister, Ch. Talib Hussain, ex-MP, Jagjeegan Lal, ex-MLA, Bimla Luthra, Provincial President Womens Wing, Chander Mohan Sharma, District President URBAN, Mohinder Gupta, District President,. Kashmira Singh, ex-MLC, Ram Paul ex-MLC and Taranjeet Singh Tony.
A large number of party activists and block level presidents of the party were also present on the occasion.
Reports about observance of martyrs’ day have also poured in from district headquarters where the party leaders paid homage to the martyrs and recalled their services. .
Rank and file of District Kishtwar under the Chairmanship of its District President and MLA – Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo paid rich tributes to the Martyr’s of 1931 on the occasion of 76th Martyr’s Day.
Besides paying tributes to all those martyrs who laid down their life in 1931, the gathering also remembered those who were killed during the 18 year long turmoil in the state.
District President Ramban Anila Saheen Parrey also paid tributes to the martyrs of 1931 at a function organized by the party at the district headquarters.
Paying glowing tributes to the Martyrs, she said that the sacrifices laid by these Martyr’s will guide the people to set standards for themselves for the future. She said the selfless sacrifices offered by these martyrs had helped the people to gain confidence to fight the despotic rule which prevailed here in the past.
A similar function was held at Doda which was presided over by the district president Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy in which large number of party rank and file of the District participated in strength.
Paying tributes to the Martyr’s, Khalid said that Martyr’s laid down their lives to make our lives very comfortable. He also claimed that National Conference party was the out come of the sacrifices offered by these martyrs.
The party also organized a function at district headquarter Kathua under the presidentship of District President Ajit Kumar.
Recalling the sacrifices made by the great Martyrs in 1931, Ajit Kumar said that by launching a peaceful movement, the Martyr’s in fact gave vent to their feelings and agonies of people. This has ultimately led to people’s struggle which gave them their due place of dignity and honour.
Similar tributes were paid to 1931 martyrs at District Headquarters Rajouri Rural and Rajouri Urban under the chairmanship of Vipan Pal Sharma and Bashir Ahmed Wani, District Presidents Rajouri Rural and Urban respectively.
