Jammu July 13, 2007 Terming July 13 as a black day, the All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference observed the day at ‘condemnation day’ here today. July 13 has come to stay with the Kashmiri Pandits as ‘ black day’ and what was started in 1931 against the community by the theocratic forces in the grab of a movement against the then Maharaja culminated into large exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, the ASKPC added.. Addressing media persons here today H L Chatta General Secretary ASKPC said that the day is being observed as condemnation day and recalled the 1931 episode when the Kashmiri Pandits were put to undue trouble and barbarism of the agitators. He warned the government not to test the patience of the community and divide them through their agents for nefarious acts. He alleged that despite directives from the centre the state government was deliberately ignoring the problems of the displaced community. V K Kashkari, vice-President, ASKPC, focused on the high points of extremists and fanatics, who in connivance with the people at the helm of affairs, under a well designed plan wanted to annihilate the community economically. Cautioning the community about the machinations of the fascist forces, Kashkari pointed out some recent events have blocked the return of KPs to the native places. He also condemned the action of some of the government functionaries for allegedly transferring the immovable property of a village in Kupwara district to some central government agencies without the consent of inhabitants in exile. President ASKPC A N Vaishnavi took the state government to task for playing with the sentiments of the community and putting them to untold miseries and dividing community into camps and non-camps .He has also condemned the statements of certain leaders who are dividing the community on the issues of religious belief and quasi permanent settlement and cautioned the community members to remain ever vigilant against those elements who are bent upon to create uncertainty..
