| Death anniversary of Com. Dhanwantri observed | | |
Jammu July 13, 2007 On the occasion of 54th death anniversary of Com Dahanwantri, a function was organized by all Indian Trade Union in collaboration of Indian People Theatre Association here today which was chaired by veteran trade union leader, Ram Kumar Sharma. Udhay Chand, General Secretary, Duggar Pradesh Party and Parveen Kesar, General Secretary, Indian People’s Theatre Association were also present. While addressing the function, Ram Kumar Sharma, highlighted the role played by the com. Dhanwantri in country’s freedom movement and his contribution for Dogri language He said that Dahanwantri’s role, who was imprisoned by the British Government and sent to Kala Pani and Andoman Nicobar, was of equal importance like Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Com Balkar Singh recalled the contribution of Com. Dhanwantri for the private sector workers. K K Koushal, Sukh Dev Singh, Dr Ghani Sham Charak, Amarjit Singh, Balwan Singh and Akash Manhas also addressed the gathering. Earlier, a Nukad Play ‘Akkar Bakkar Pamba Po’ was staged. The play was written by Praveen Kesar and directed by the Raghubir Seghal. Meanwhile, rich tributes were paid to Dhanvantri in meeting organized by the workers of J&K Democratic Conference here today. Krishan Dev Sethi a close associate of Dhanvantri while addressing the occasion said Dhanvantri was the brain behind the land reforms in the state during Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s rule. Meanwhile in Udhampur, Bhagat Singh Yadgaar Committee organized a rally and paid glowing tributes Dhanvantri. Com. Ludermani, President BSYC presided over the function. Abdul Majid Khan, President All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation while addressing a rally said Com. Dhanvantri was a dedicated, revolutionary and daring son of the soil who spearheaded freedom struggle on progressive lines in Jammu and Kashmir.
