| India to continue dialogue with Pakistan: Manmohan | | |
Jammu, India,July 15 Prime Minister,Manmohan Singh on Sunday announced india's resolve to continue its dialogue with Pakistan.He said "dialogue with Pakistan will be continued despite difficulties." Addressing a special convocation in Jammu university,in presence of a galaxy of political leaders and academicians,the Prime Minister said "we are committed to end terrorism so that noone was able to stop the heart beats of a peace loving people of Jammu and Kashmir."An hour-long function was held amidst unprecedented security apparatus.Police and paramilitary forces had ringed the entire campus and the roads leading to it. Manmohan Singh said said "peace and democratic power come through the ballot not through the bullet of a gun.We will fight terrorism so that violence,conflict and hatred vanished."
Reiterating his resolve to strengthen the confidence building measures the Prime Minister said "there is no other alternative but to build peace between India and Pakistan>" He said "through peaceful negotiations and dialogue we can promote cooperation and end conflict." The Prime Minister said that "I reiterate that I am for ending a 60-year old legacy of bitterness with Pakistan.We can neither afford to change or redraw borders or go in for further divisions but we can make the Line of Control irrelevant." He said "a day is not far off when People in India could have their lunch in Islamabad and dinner in Kabul and that is possible when terrorism is weeded out and we have borders of peace and friendship." Saying that Jammu and Kashmir having a "special place" in his heart the Prime Minister said "we are trying to fulfill the desire of people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been yearning for peace.""And this desire will become a reality when the Line of control gets converted into line of peace,"he added(KIP)
