| It was a Congress City……..literally!! | | | ET REPORTER Jammu, July 15: From airport to Raj Bhawan via Jammu University through all lanes and streets, the winter capital today appeared as a virtual "Congress City" as the partymen turned the town tricolour to impress the visiting Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. As flags and buntings, banners and hoardings roughed up with each dominated the town to catch the eye of the Prime Minister, the Congress leaders ranging from Ministers to Corporators all jostled with each other to show up the face to the leaders. All routes which the Prime Minister had to take to reach the Jammu University campus and then to the Raj Bhawan for lunch sported Congress banners, flags and buntings. For a while it appeared that the entire winter capital city belongs to the Congress party. Ministers, particularly the Works Minister Gulchain Singh Charak and Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma outsmarted almost every one else in impressing the Prime Minister by putting on hoardings the pictures of the PM, the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the Chief Minister along with their own. A look at the City walls clearly reflected that the Congress leaders were in competition with each other to impress the Prime Minister. Later Prime Minister addressed a delegation of the Congress leaders at the Raj Bhawan. While addressing the Congress leaders he said that Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's hands had to be strengthened for ensuring all round development of the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the State is confronted with various problems and exuded confidence that the Congress led Government would steer the stateto peace, prosperity and progress. He referred to the assembly elections next year in the state and urged his party workers to rededicate themselves to the good of the masses. 'We must be in a position to say with pride that Congress has been providing a dispensation with difference.
