PM's assertion significant towards consolidating peace process: PDP

Srinagar, July 17
Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the Prime Minister’s affirmative statement on improving relations with Pakistan and resolving the problems of Jammu & Kashmir through a comprehensive mechanism. The PAC at the same time stressed the need for taking fresh people-oriented confidence building measures within the State to further consolidate the fast-changing scenario towards peace.
"The Prime Minister's statement is a significant and positive move towards consolidation of the peace and confidence building process," the PAC which met here today under the chairmanship of PDP Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed observed.
The meeting reiterated that the peace process is an irreversible historical development as it is the only option to resolve mutual differences, improve the security environment and ensure the welfare and happiness of the people. "The recent developments in the region have reinforced the urgency of carrying forward the peace process with a focus on Jammu & Kashmir-specific confidence building measures for the amicable settlement of this long-pending conflict," the meeting emphasized.
PDP President, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Abdul Aziz Zargar, Tariq Hamid Qarra, Sardar Rangil Singh, Qazi Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Dilawar Mir, Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, Master Tassaduq Hussain, Ved Mahajan, Nisar Hussain Khan and Political Secretary to the party President, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain attended the meeting
