| DDC releases Rs. 14 lakh for upgradation of Medical sub-centres | | | RAJOURI, JULY 17 - Rajouri district is witnessing considerable achievements in National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) being implemented under District Health Society. This information was placed before the District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mr. Rafiq Ahmed Sheikh who is also Chairman NRHM during a review meeting of the District Health Society. Chief Medical Officer Rajouri while giving a resume of the achievements made in the district informed that as many as 4540 antenatal women have been registered for delivery thus raising the number to 1296 during first quarter of the current financial year. During the corresponding period of the last year, 3264 antenatal women were registered. Similarly, the department registered the delivery of 1334 as against 1056 deliveries during first quarter of the last financial year. About 1198 ASHAs (social workers) have assisted the women to reach the health institutions across the district. For the smooth conduct of deliveries in the health institutions, DDC has released an amount of Rs. 14 lakh for upgradation and maintenance of medical sub-centres in the district. Under Immunization programme, as many as 13,311 children have been covered under BCG, DPT and measles during the period. The meeting was also revealed that during this period, as many as 34000 out door patients have been registered for treatment and 1040 sputum got analyzed resulting in the detection of 15 patients as positive. However six leprosy patients are under treatment. Besides this, 35 cataract operations were performed while 1124 school going children were also screened with the mobilization of medical teams in different educational institutions during the period. District Development Commissioner emphasized upon the functionaries of health department to disseminate the programme of NRHM especially in interior areas of the district so that benefits of this programme could reach the needy families. He said that he will extend full cooperation for effective implementation of the programme. Executive Engineers of PHE and PDD were also advised to take care of drinking water and power supply in the health institutions so as to avoid the inconvenience for ailing community. He maintained that he will take stock of the functioning of the department assigned the task for providing better facilities to the health institutions.
