DDC reviews arrangements of I-day

KATHUA, JULY 17 - District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Mrs. Sarita Chauhan convened a meeting to discuss the arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day 2007 here at Kathua today.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Mr. Laj Ram, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Kathua, Mr. S.K. Kapoor, DFO, Kathua, Deputy Commissioner, Excise, Kathua, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Chief education Officer, Kathua A.K. Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, Ch. Partap Singh, District Information Officer Kathua, Suram Sharma, Assistant. Regional Transport Officer, Kathua, other district Officers, Principal of various Government and private schools and cultural personalities attended the meeting.
It was apprised that as usual the main function will be held at District Police Lines, Kathua where the chief guest will unfurl the national tricolor at 8 am and shall take salute at the largest ever parade comprising of 52 contingents drawn from CRPF, Police, Forest Protection force, Women Police, NCC, Boys and Girls and tiny platoons from various Government as well as private schools.
The day will break with Shahnai Vadan being arranged by the District Information Center, Kathua at wee hours.
It was also decided that the students of various government and private schools will present a colorful culture programme of Community singing which would be arranged involving thousand of students drawn from various private and government schools and ETT collages on the occasion.
Meritorious students who have topped in the district in matriculation, 10+2 and graduation shall be awarded suitably.
A colorful culture programme “Sham-e-Gahzal” shall be arranged by the Information Department in “At home” function being hosted by the Worthy Deputy Commissioner at Kathua in collaboration with Information Department and local’s artist.
The DDC exhorted upon the officers to keep no stone unturned to make the celebration a grand success. She also directed all the officers to ensure the presence of all their employees on the occasion.
Regarding other arrangements like, security, sitting, sanitation, issuance of invitation card, first aid, transportation, drinking water, illumination etc. the DDC directed the concerned departments to ensure early finalization of these arrangements. Chief Medical Officer, Kathua was asked to provide first aid facilities along with an ambulance through out the rehearsals days up to culmination of the function. Police and Para Military authorities were asked to ensure foolproof security arrangements and regulation of traffic. PHE department will provide drinking water right from commencing of rehearsals on 8th of August to the final day of function. All the important buildings including the gateway of the state will be illuminated on the eve of Independence Day.
The rehearsals for the said function shall start from 8th of August, 2007 and a full dress rehearsal will be held on 13th of August, 2007 in which all the district officers will be present.
