| Prize catch: Shailly's killer killed | | Abu Umar was LeT financial chief for India | |
Jammu, July 18: In a biggest catch of the recent times, the sleuths of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army mowed down a hard core terrorist and the country's top most operative of Laskhar-e-Toiba militant outfit. The dreaded terrorist killed in an encounter in Bhaderwah is believed to be the killer of valiant Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailly Singh. Abu Umar, who coordiantes the militant outfit's operations in the country, was killed during a search operation by police and Rahtriya Rifles personnel which took place in Banderwah area of the district early this morning. Umar was responsible for the killing of Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailey Singh during an operation in Baderwah area last month, Senior Superintendent of Police (Doda) Manohar Singh confirmed this. Police said that Abu Umar opened fire when he saw the security forces having cordoned off his hideout in which one woman,Mushera Begum,was killed and a soldier wounded. The police said that on a tip off the security forces cordoned of a house in which Abu Umar had been hiding and when he saw police nearing the house he opened fire in which on woman was killed and a soldier injured.The security forces retaliated killing Abu Umar on the spot. According to a police spokesman Abu Umar had gone into hiding after having killed Sheily Singh Deputy Superintendent police during an encounter in Bhaderwah last month.
