Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 18 Glowing tributes were paid to Vijay Singh, sub inspector of J&K police on his 15th death anniversary here today. Vijay Singh, son of the soil, laid his life at a very young age on July 18, 1992, while fighting against the militants in district Doda. To commemorate the death anniversary, Vijay Singh Samarak Samiti, organized a Shradhajali Samorah (Memorial Service) and performed a havan, which was attended by a large number of people and politicians. Vijay Singh, a brave officer, belonged to a family, which have a history of sacrifices for the nation. His grandfather Col. Vakil Singh was hero of Hussainwala Operation and was decorated with Vishisht Sewa Medal and Sena Medal. Inspector, Parshotam Singh father of the deceased Inspector who served in Jammu and Kashmir Police earned a respectable position in the society by his honesty, dedication and commitment towards his responsibility. The demise of Sub Inspector Vijay Singh, did not demoralize the boost of any one in the family, His younger brother, Ajay Singh took a pledge for carrying forward the mission of his brother and too joined J&K Police and is presently Sub Inspector. The 93 year old grandmother of Vijay Singh, Rameshwari Devi, expressed grave concern over the attitude of the state government towards the family. She said family is neither getting any pension nor it received any other benefit from the government even after passing of over 14 years. Present on the occasion were BJP leader Dr. Nirmal Singh (brother-in-law of sub Inspector Vijay Singh) Dr.P.C. Pathania, Prof. Hari Om and Chander Prakash Ganga Vijay Jamwal, Dharamvir Singh Jamwal, Krishan Lal, Yudhvir Sethi, Balvir Ram, Usha Choudhary, Subash Chander Verma, Priya Sethi, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mohan Singh, relatives and close friends.
