| Natrang festival goes underway ‘Bagia Bancha Ram Ki’ staged. | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 18 Natrang’s biggest theatre event of the country started here today at Abhinav Theatre with the performing of super hit play ‘Bagia Banchna Ram Ki’ written by Manoj Mitra and directed by Adil Hussain. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, Secretary J&K Cultural Academy. Director of Natrang while addressing the gathering informed that festival will feature seventeen top plays of Natrang which include Ghunnayee, Bawa Jito, Kanjoos, Holi, Aap Hamare Hain Kaun, Comedy of Terrors, Rakt Beej, Sainyan Bhaye Kotwal, Beauty is a Best, Panja, Suno Eh Kahani, Fandi, Panja and Andhon ka Haathi. The festival will also include two open-air plays Gatt and Girgit established in 1983 Natrang with its 87 plays and over 1250 shows has brought theatre of J&K to the international limelight. The inaugural Play ‘Bagia Bancha Ram Ki’ exposes the greed for acquiring the property of ancestors. It revolves round Bancha Ram’s garden and how his son and grandson became victim of this greed. The play starts with exposing that “Chhekauri’s Ghost” hangs around Banchha Ram garden. Naukauri who is Chhekauri’s son frequently changes his strategy to acquire the garden. Things take a different turn when the child is born who is great grandson of Banchha. Banchha regains strength and vigour and on the contrary Naukauri seeing a dramatic change feels disheartened. Naukri suffers his first heart attack and dies while the old man is alive and the haunted ‘Bagia’ remains. The actors of Natrang who presented a superb performance include Neeraj Kant, Anil Tikko, Sanjeev Gupta, Pankaj Sharma and Sumeet Sharma. While Deepak Virdhi, Kamaljeet Kaur, Mukulni Sethi, Mohit Sharma, Rohit Verma, Pawan Verma, Pankush Verma also exhibited their talent in an impressive manner. Others who performed in the play include Shivali Abrol, Hemanbt Bhola , Mohd, Taseen, Sahil Arora, Gaurav Jamwal, Ankush Lakhotra and Rahul Singh. Chief Guest Dr. Masoodi was honoured by Natrang with the presentation of a memento.
