| After self rule, demilitarization what PDP has next in kitty | | | JAMMU The recent assertion of Mufti Mohammed Syed that the rejection of demilitarization demand will have an adverse effect on peace dividends, compels one to think that what would be next in the list the list of demands of PDP that would bring 'Peace' in the state of Jammu and Kashmir on the one hand and at the same time consolidate his vote bank for the ensuing elections for State Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held in 2008. Kashmir is the territory which has always been used as a grazing ground by its very politicians, more for their self interest and less for the benefit of its common masses. It in fact has been the pasture being used at will from all the angles suiting to its leadership and at the same time they have shown less interest in nurturing it sincerely for the betterment of common masses. Perhaps the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir is a repercussion of the same very attitude adopted by the state politicians from time to time. Deliberately, since 1947, enough doubt has been created in the minds of the common masses by its own leadership who used them to quench their thirst for power. Politicians, especially after losing power get frustrated and as a result use every trick to keep them selves alive in the political race. For a considerable period of time Kashmir leadership was engaged in dual talk. They use to contradict their own statements at different places. Same very used to talk on different lines in Srinagar and New Delhi. This is beyond any doubt that they have been exploiting the situation, much for their political interest than the prosperity of common people. During election campaigning, politicians lose no time in creating doubt among the masses artistically. From last couple of years, PDP has vehemently been advocating for 'self rule', 'demilitarization' in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It even went on saying that the demand if rejected would be unfavourable for peace dividends. The million dollar question to ponder upon arises: whether guns will fall silent and peace will return if the demands of 'self rule', 'demilitarization' are agreed to. Who would take responsibility on behalf of Pakistan, which has been engaged in abetting the militancy in State from last twenty years? The people of Jammu and Kashmir are now fed up with the prevailing situation. They long for prosperity and peace. They are now less interested in political affairs of state and desire for better future as more or less similar slogans in the past have yielded nothing for them. The common man of the state is now well aware of the situation and has enough sense to decide of his own while electing his representative to State Legislative Assembly.
