| Daring inmates overpower armed assailant, hand him over to police | | |
SRINAGR July 19: Acting in daring manner family members at a far off village in Devsar area of North Kashmir overpowered one of the four gunmen after the later barged in the house and fired on the inmates.
One of the inmate received minor bullet injury in the shoot out, while three of the attackers managed to flee from the spot.
Local sources said that four armed men barged in the house of one Mohammad Yousaf Ganai and opened fire injuring one of the inmates.
However, the family members showing extraordinary courage scuffled with attackers and overpowered on of them, sources said adding "the other three attackers managed to escape.
The family members later locked up the assailant in a room and handed over him to police.
The assailant has been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Maqbool, resident of Khudwani.
The injured inmate Farooq Ahmed Ganai was rushed to police where his condition is sated to be as stable.
